2023 - Inaugural Event.

On Sunday 14th May 2023, 259 runners from all over the county, and beyond, took part in the inaugural “Hardy Half” supported by locals, families and friends, as well as a large number of volunteers.  The runners passed local bands, Stealing Whiskey and the Durnovaria Silver Band, and posed for photos from Dorset Bays.

The event could not have gone ahead with the contribution from sponsors National Grid and Parkers Properties, as well as National Farmers Union and Dorset Brewing Company.  The events success helped us contribute £9000 to locals charities and organisations. Our main charity partner, The Farming Community Network, received £1900 of that fund.

The winner of the men’s race was Egdon Heath Harrier Chris Peck, in an incredible 1 hour 27 minutes and 22 seconds. The winner of the women's race was Ruth Tuthill in a fantastic 1.47.58, just edging out RIOT’s own Virginie Morries and Jasmin Evans in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Overall, 257 runners crossed the line to receive a medal, a t-shirt and free beer. Both the Mayor and the Town Crier were on hand to hand out medals and trophies.

“A fantastic race all round, superbly organised, a tough route and a great start/ finish location”
